Well my fiance and I just traded our altima for a 2005 explorer xlt 4.6. 1 owner, all service records, third row and tow hitch. We just had our 3rd child so it was needed. A few questions I have are it makes a ticking sort of sound which sounds like its coming from the exhaust manifolds? Do these motors have a tick to them like Hondas? I have a very good knowledge of mechanics and cars and know some are just a little noisy. The passenger fender also gets pretty damn hot but the drivers doesnt? I assume this is cause of the coolant resovoir mounted to it? And third how would I remove the headliner? Im going to install a overhead DVD. This truck was bought from a reputable dealer who does like a 120 point inspection so thats why im curious of the engine noise. Anyway thanks! Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Welcome! Does it tick all the time or just until the motor is good and warm? Sent from my Milestone X using Tapatalk 2
All the time. I don't here it under acceleration. Just when standing beside it. Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
All my Fords have had the same sound. Its so normal that most these guys are going "what noise!?"... but if it's your first Ford then it probably is all you hear. I know when i first got my expedition back in 05, that sound freaked me out. Of course, you could be talking about something completely different... Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
