Those of you who have replaced ur alt what did you go with? I would like to upgrade mine to somethig that can handle my lights and sound system. My current one i believe is the stock one that came with the truck, I also have the tow package so its already got a beefed up alt i believe

    And boom goes the dynamite.

If you want a badass alt get a mechman alternator.. it'll definitely put out all the power you need for all your accessories

    Their kinda pricey though

    $449 for a 270 amp 6G for the PSD.
    Most I looked @ were $449 with a 2 year warranty.

Autopartwarehouse site says OE output is 130amp.

    Mechman is 270 amp $449

DB Electrical in Gray, TN has three levels.

    160 amp $197
    200 amp $219
    220 amp $259
    one year warranty.

vs your local auto parts store stock output
    with a limited lifetime warranty
    around or over $100

Adding a remote bridge rectifier will make an alternator less prone to burn up.
    http://www.alternatorparts.com/quicktifier-remote-bridge-rectifier.html

    $109 for 210 amp
    $149 for 420 amp

The "quicktifier" does not add amperage but adds
another set of rectifiers making the output more stable
    under larger loads.

Most 6-7 rib pulleys can be swapped
    between similar case style alternators.

I used to swap the pulleys at the auto parts
store for customers. I did come across a couple
alternators that the impact gun would not take
the pulley nut off even with penetrating oil.

Not to say that it's gonna be a guaranteed pulley swap.
