My darn headlights will not shut off. I thought it was the hid relay at first because if I tapped it they would shut off, but that method has stopped working. I tried putting factory bulbs in, but I plugged the passengers side in, and about 5 seconds later the bulb lit up. I put the hid back in because at least that way I can pull the fuse from the relay harness and shut them off. Any ideas? Really gotta get these working, I drive in the dark a lot and even in day time the highway is a headlights required one. Sent from my Milestone X using Tapatalk 2
Some more info... While usually when I turn the switch off the headlights simply stay on, occasionally they would go off for about 5 seconds then come back on. Similarly, when putting the relay harness fuse back in, sometimes they would wait a few seconds before kicking on, but usually came on right away. It's now to the point where there is a never delay though. They did this for a day or two a month or two ago as well but after removing the relay and tapping it around it stopped, and just started again yesterday. The relay doesn't seem to be part of the problem though, since the factory bulbs act the same way. When I turn the switch off, all other lights to turn off....running lights, gauge lights. My high/low switch does turn the highs on and off when I tell it to, no problem. Sent from my Milestone X using Tapatalk 2
almost sounds like you got a short to power. go through and check all your wiring that has to do with your headlights.
Any idea you know what these wiring harnesses are for? Drivers side, near the fender, beneath the air filter. Sent from my Milestone X using Tapatalk 2
let me see if i can find out on mitchell. give me a few minutes. did you find a wire that was bare or melted? better yet can you trace where the wire looms go?
All the stuff I've been reading is pointing to the GEM behind the interior fuse panel. Many have said they have water damage due to a leak and in turn it has damaged the GEM. You could try removing it's plug in and spraying the contacts with CRC electronics contact cleaner let that dry and apply dielectric grease with a cotton swab on the terminals. Then plug it back in. Not that this is the solution to the problem just a suggestion.
not questioning your suggestion joe but i am curious how this would cause the lights to stay on. water would short it and blow fuses correct?
