2014 Ford Transit Gets 5-Cylinder Diesel | The Truth About Cars

Not sure if it would make sense to put this in the 150 or the new F-100....depends on the mpg. :hmmm2:

I think it's ironic cause truck rating are so underrated now. My dads half ton has a payload of almost a ton haha

That and Ford isn't going to compete against the F-150. Offering a truck that's "mid size" would chip into their sales of the F-150, and we all know Ford wouldn't like that.

Offering the 5 cylinder diesel in an XL F-150 is a more likely to happen scenario then the creation of the F-100.

Either way, they're going to have to hit obamas new mpg requirements. I think a diesel is the only way they're going to hit that.

No doubt, those pesky CAFE laws are soon to be a real pain in the ass for truck makers. I read somewhere that Ford will begin using more aluminum body panels to lighten up the trucks. I'm sure we'll also begin to see the boxy designs that began with the 04's once again become more aerodynamic in the future.

All in all, CAFE laws are horseshat, but the greenies want it that way.
