Does anyone have or know anyone who has a 2006-2007 jeep grand Cherokee. Motor doesn't matter, I'm more concerned with the car itself as far as quality. The wife and I are going to look at a 2007 jgc with the 3.0 common rail diesel with 66k on it. Good price, good looking car. I'm hesitant to leave ford but the explorer just doesn't offer the efficiency we would like. You just can't go wrong with diesel, especially a Mercedes built 6 cyl turbo, but I'm just wondering how other people like the newer grand Cherokees as their commuters or grocery getters. I can read online reviews all night, good and bad, but with those you never knew who may have neglected their vehicles or damaged them to get the negative results they're complaining about, Id like to hear from someone credible ha ha. Neighbor in anchorage had one of those, silver. Nice black leather interior. Seats always were too stiff for my liking. Seemed pretty nice though. but her tranny went out at 82k. Other than that seemed pretty good though. She was a nurse and always had it in good shape and had it serviced at the right times an stuff. She always made sure it was great shape cause she was a cardiac emergency nurse on call an wanted to always make sure it would always be reliable. Idk why the tranny went on it though. She borrowed our bronco after it did till it was fixed
IMO Reliablity in a Benz, yes. Should something engine wise go wrong, with the cost of Benz parts, no. I only saw one NHTSA recall for brake calipers. 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Utility 4D Laredo CRD 4WD Recalls, Pricing and Information | NADAguides
I think they're a solid rig, but they won't pull the mpg you think for a diesel. Read up on some of the jeep forums before you buy, I don't think they get better than low 20s for gas mileage. Yea the mileage isn't as great as expected. My grandmothers only got 17 to 19. Great vehicles, if we get engaged, actually planning on one for my girlfriend but I wouldn't make the switch purely on "quality". Transmissions traditionally aren't great, not always bad, but lots of cases where they were. Sent from my DROIDX
I've read the forums, I'm reading people getting averages of 23-25, which is double our escape, and the explorers get mid to high teens for mileage. Ive read horrible mileage numbers on the v8 gc's. I expect the car to have the same issues as any other used car ie brakes, springs, tires etc.. I didn't think about the Mercedes price tag on repairs ha ha. I don't have a problem investing the money in a car that will last though. I just want to see how people like their gc's regardless of the motor, just the car itself, ergonomics, how it is for daily driving, comfort, common electrical issues (I hear the liberty has a lot) or just common issues to look for on this specific rig. Just to see how someone who knows what they are talking about likes the car as a whole. I read about a torque converter issue on the crd, but that was fixed early on with a PCM re flash on a factory recall/repair. May be the reason for the tranny in the earlier post. Taking all the weird coincidental things out, I loved both our family has had. Use it now as a pull-behind car for the RV. They look awesome, drive good, plenty cargo room, sunroof...the only way I'd go explorer over gc in is the newest models. Sent from my DROIDX
That's exactly what I'm thinking. It was between the 06-10 exploder 4.6 or the 07-08 grand Cherokee crd. The Cherokee is about 2 or 3 less depending on the trim. I'd pic a new model explorer, even the non Ecoboost over the jeep, but its a difference of 35-40k and 20k ha ha. Sent from your Mom's house using Tapatalk
Your escape only gets 12mpg? That sucks. Find a CRD and test drive it. Get a decent warranty and do all the preventive stuff adn you should be good to go.
