well started fixing the underside of the frame today. i started on another area that was rusted out, just want to see what i can do before i do the important area thats causing the cab to lean.

    Heres where i started.

all cut out and grinded down as best i could. it was hard to get my big ass grinder in there.

i made a couple patches a few days ago, i dont think i posted them.

test fit. i had to grind the edges down a tad more to get it to fit as flush as possible.

still struggling with getting that perfect weld. i can get pretty good welds when im welding stuff on the work bench, not so good when i go to the actual work piece lol. i cut into the bar too far on one side. hopefully i can fill it with weld.

i got it perfectly flush on the bottom. thats what im going to need to do with the area above the block so i can maintain the proper height for the cab. im not too concerned on the sides but i did pretty good with lining those up as well.

my welds are a little high but i had some trouble with burn through on the other side of the new piece i put in. the metal is solid but i think its thinner than the new steel i welded in place. i called it for the night, i gotta go get some grinding wheels tomorrow. mine are spent.

Its no Danny job for sure lol but im getting there. im most happy with the fact that i got it flush on the bottom and it fit perfectly with the existing piece. i dont think im doing too bad with the lack of knowledge and instruction i have. im going to try and finish it up tomorrow before class..should probably get some studying in for my final though. ill be sure to post up some more pics. still waiting on my damn can of POR-15. didnt want to start this until i had it but i got antsy and i need to get this underway, work starts soon.

    what do yall think?

on another note. my electrical problem only happened a couple times today. worked fine all morning, had it happen twice in the afternoon and i was just moving the truck in the driveway. put it in reverse a few times and no problems. odd. still havent had a chance to check out the reverse wire at the CSM.

    yea i see that lol

ive got plenty more grinding to do for sure. going to get some of them extended life wheels tomorrow. they arent cheap though. i just hope when im done welding at the very top where the new piece meets the floor that i will be able to get the grinder in there to grind it down.

You could get in tighter places with an air die grinder
and 3" cut off wheel. Just go lightly on the surface.
I've used this method when the 4 1/2" wouldn't fit.

Last batch of cut offs I used were Russian made,
    they held up pretty good.

ive got an air grinder with a metal wheel, it just sucks. my compressor is crap lol. maybe i could run to my uncles and use his 5ft tall compressor.

my compressor runs out of air so damn quick. only thing its good for is pumping things up with air.

Harbor freight sells a 21g compressor for like 175 bucks and I've read some pretty good reviews on it. Ill prob pick one up this summer.
