trying to finish welding that piece of steel in place.

i find the more you try to fill holes the bigger the holes get and the harder they are to fill lol

got a pretty solid weld along the top but there is no way im getting my grinder in there to grind the welds down.

For bigger holes and gaps you can't run a continuous bead especially on thinner material, you'll have to do 1-2 second tack welds pausing in between to make sure you don't get the metal too hot. Tack, pause, tack, pause. Yada yada. I sometimes have to fill 1/2"+ gaps at work...it Sucks lol

oh ****, thats a good size gap. mine was only about 1/4". i think ive figured that out though about tacking, pausing and repeating. it just takes time.

i got most of the little holes filled. im done for now, gotta study and go to school.

it looks like its got alot of wavyness to it but actual beam itself has dips in it.

this is the hard spot to get to. i can hardly even see when im trying to weld up there. ive gotta take the air grinder to it tomrrow to clean the welds up on the side. i cant get either grinder in there to touch the top. i might have to wire brush it and slap some filler over it after i brush it with some por-15.

you can see i still have a few small holes to fill up but i think its coming alot alright. im going to paint the inside of it with some paint when i get it through that square hole.

i looked at the same spot but on the other side of the truck, its like 10x worse lol i dont know if ill be able to do it without lifting the cab off the frame. i think thats what im going to have to do when i try to fix the spot over the block.

you bet man. por-15 will be on the whole underside when I get finished with the metal working.

I was on fordpartsdirect.com the other day and I think I found that they sell the support that im fixing...im sure its like $200 even though its thin ass steel.
