Awesome man. Thanks for the help. I will check on that tomorrow at work. IF I could find a kit like the one I posted...do you think that would work....at least for a temporary fix??? Until I could get the hole retapped.

the one you, posted I don't think it will. there is a big difference in the 04-08 plugs compared to the 97-03 plugs. the plugs might have a difference reach and size threads...im almost positive they do.

I cant seem to find the specs on both plugs right now.

I wouldn't even bother with that thing lol. find a kit to rent and get that hole fixed.

Thanks. I will look around tomorrow and see what I can come up with. Maybe autozone or somewhere like that rents the kit out. And all I will have to purchase is the insert to put in. I'll keep you posted on whats going on. Thanks again bud!

yea that link you posted wont work for sure. the spark plug in the picture is for the 3v engine. if you threaded that sleeve onto a 2v engine plug the plug wouldn't even reach below the sleeve. kinda curious how that sleeve even works. I see you screw it in but if the head is stripped how the **** are you supposed to thread it in without tapping the whole? why wouldn't you just put a timesert or heli coil in? odd.

let us know how it goes man. the insert I got was like $5-$6 and was inside the kit when I borrowed/rented it.

not a big fan of autozone, they never have what I need. check all the auto stores though. oreillys, advance auto, autozone...I would even check like Napa and auto value stores if you have any of those near you. I rented mine from an auto value store.

when you rent tools from the auto stores (if you don't already know this) they always charge you a deposit when you rent the tool out. when you bring the tool back you get your money back. like I said, that kit was $400 new. don't be surprised if they charge you a deposit of $400+ to rent the tool lol.

Yeah I didnt know anything about that kit I found.. I just saw it was $60 and thought it was an easy fix. But it still sounds like an easy fix...just a bit more expensive. I have O'reilly, Autozone, Advance Auto, Napa, Slack Auto...Im sure one of those places have what I'm looking for. I hope at least. And I hope they dont charge me a 400 deposit..although I could see that happening..especially after my luck tonight!!!!!

How do I keep the metal shavings out of the cylinder after being tapped?

Clean out real good before doing anything. Then use a shop vac to get all the big stuff, lastly, use a magnet to get inside the cylinder.

    sent from my igloo

Aluminum block. Its not magnetic. I heard as long as I get most of the shavings out of there that a FEW small pieces wont hurt anything and will most likely just burn up or exit through the exhaust port on startup...does that make sense or does that sound like total BS???

vacuum it out and then you can start the truck and blow the rest out of the head like that.
