So my 95 f150 XL has 3.55 and LSD but the fluid has never been changed- so my dad tells me. He bought it new and it has 163000 on it. The trans has been flushed but at 100000.

I plan on changing the diff fluid, take the cover off and drain it and re fill or what do you all think I need to do? Also what about getting the transmission a shift kit and flushing, any shift lots that you all use that are good and how much diff fluid- type and friction modifier should I use and brands you all reccomend.

As for the diff, remove the bottom 3 bolts and loosen the others just enough to allow it to drain. Then remove cover, clean old gasket off cover and diff housing. Inspect for metal shavings. Apply Atv gasket maker on the diff. Make sure to make a solid head around the entire cover, as well as a circle around each bolt hole. This will ensure a proper seal. Attach and let sit for 20min before driving. Add oil from plug in front of diff on driver side.

Someone else will hopefully chime in on trans help.

I recently just worked on a 8.8 this weekend, I think it's 80, 90 fluid. And 1 bottle of friction modifier. Or should I add less modifier since the clutches are older and worn?

I would go w/ Mobil1 synthetic for the diff. It has modified premixed so you are good.

when I did mine a few years back I believe I out 70-90 in mine and mine has the 4.10 lsd (gonna make sure on that when I get home) and do what vano said, but when I added the oil to it, I put in the royal purple stuff since that's all they (Eielson AFB mechanic shop) had at the time, and when I drained mine, it looked like say one when someone put it in there nice and clean, no metal shavings at all, I was happy and my dad was shocked when he seen it

I've heard really good things about RP, what weight should I get? The rear end has never been touched so the clutches are probably worn.
Today it felt like my brakes were sticking. I was putting more throttle to go the same speed and it was shifting more in an out of OD going down the highway. Then when I would start from a stop it felt like I was starting with the brakes on. It slowed down faster when I let off the throttle too, the weird thing is- I didn't smell brakes and the drums in back weren't hot, the front disks didn't seem hot or smell. Any ideas?

Actually it sounds like a noise from the trans. When in park and at a little over idle you can here a rattle like mixing balls bouncing around. Maybe it's a heat shield or something else but now I don't think it's the brakes

8.8 rear diffs in these trucks take 80/90 weight gear oil... And 4 oz of limited slip additive... Valvoline does rear diffs for 39.99 when they take 80/90... They vacuum suck out through the fill hole... Gets out 95% of shavings..

That sounds cheaper than me actually doing it. Have any of you heard of the snap rings that hold the clutches together breaking and causing the transmission to drag?

May not be cheaper but certainly easier quicker and just as good..

But gotta tell ya if the rear diff is leaking they won't service it.. Or at least they're not supposed too..
