It's not leaking. I just thought it would be a good idea to change it since it and the rear brake shoes and some other maintainace has never been done before.
This weekend is gunna be busy. Changing oil, changing rear diff fluid, fixing the rest if the rust, try finishing body work and painting.
Changed the fluid, it was black and pretty dirty. New fluid in it. Changed oil but now the oil drain plug is leaking, I guess I have to drain the oil and fill it back up? Any ideas on how to do that the best
when you go and put the drain plug back in, take some of the white sealant tape that you put around to make a tight air seal, put some of that around the threads for the plug and put it back in. wait a couple of days and see how bad it is leaking, if it is not that bad don't worry about it but check the oil level every 2-4 days and keep adding oil until you hit the mark again to change it. if anything just crank it down little by little but don't stripe it or else you will have to go with a bigger drain plug like I have on mine (don't let any mechanic touch the vehicle)
My step dad stripped it and it has already been re threaded and it is loose, I didn't replace the thrust washer, could that be the problem?
