Tried installing my oil pump yesterday with no success. Pump fit fine, but pick up tube was coming in contact with the crank. Now the actual tube doesnt hit the crank, but the little shield/splash guard/bracket thing hits thr very front counterweight on the crank (the thickest one).
Zoomed out to give you an idea of where it is.

Here is where it makes contact.

Ive been told on another forum that this is for a six bolt crank and thats why its not working. Other than that little bracket everything lines up great. Will I be ok just grinding it down or using a dremel to chip away a little bit of the aluminum?

Turns out a company makes a specific pickup tube for a high volume pump (like my cobra pump) for a truck pan. Went ahead and ordered it so I should see it this week. Also got my valves and springs in along with valve stem seals uploadfromtaptalk1396907352523.jpg

Gonna get the block painted this week along with stripping down the heads.

Also got the valve covers and COP covers painted. uploadfromtaptalk1397168191932.jpg

New pickup tube came. New on bottom, old on top for comparison.

Just waiting on a new oil pan now and saving up a bit more until I send the heads off.
