Hello, I have an 03 Excursion Limited and 4WD hubs wont engage automatically so I have to turn them manually. They engage but where do I start on this to get it to work by switch without having to get out in the snow?
Im not understanding your question exactly. Do you have manual hubs? Or electirc hubs that quit working?
he has an Excursion for starters lol. It sounds like his electric hubs arent working, but you can still manually turn them if you get out and physically do it. The hubs are accessible on the 250 and up (and similar) platforms.
I thought those are vacuum operated hubs? If they are vacuum type, check for cracked, dry rot on the hoses leading to the axle vacuum port. If the hoses are good, maybe a hub vacuum seal issue. 2003 Ford Excursion 4WD Front Wheel Bearing & Hub Assembly (Motorcraft) at 1A Auto.com Maybe the solenoid also. http://www.1aauto.com/2000-ford-f25...ypeFld=Auto+Locking+Hub+Vacuum+Solenoid+Valve
The hubs are auto electric/ manual. You have them on auto to shift on the fly with the switch in cab. Or you can switch them to manual and the hubs stay locked but you still switch it to 4 in the cab to switch the transfer case. Just to clarify for the guys ha ha. You most likely have a vacuum leak. It's very common in excursions and super duties. You can test it like joe said, or you will definitely know if you have your ac running, hubs on manual, and switch to 4 hi or low and ac shuts off and your dash vents switch to your defrost vents. I know this because that's what mine and my dad's does ha ha. This is also common. You can either locate the leak and fix the lines, or they make a delete kit you can get with a set of manual hubs. I'm opting for the latter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
