    2000 Bauer Expedition. 133K miles. Dome/map light bulbs burned out. Replaced with proper spec bulbs. Still not working. Checked the fuses and none have failed. Then I discovered the metal bands that the bulbs go through on the outside of the socket are broken. See photo. I can manipulate the bulb for it to make contact with the band and turn on, but when I set the bulb in the socket it won't connect to the band to turn on. What are these bands called and how are they replaced? Something a novice could do? Thx for any insight.[IMG]

    Welcome to www.fordfullsize.com
    @backnine29

    IMO, they look corrosion or scale over the copper, try cleaning the contact area with
    baking soda paste and water to bare copper first, toothbrush, then coat with dielectric grease.
    Check the bulb housing side has clean contacts to the bulb band film type contact also.

    Looked for those flat wiring "band" copper film contacts at Ford Parts Giant.
    Don't see them. You can try.
    May be something you need to Salvage/You Pick & Pull from a Parts Yard.

    Never hurts to read all the replies.
