So when i drive at night when my lights are on i usually drive with my fog lights on, and lately idk when this started but when my fog lights are on i get a ton of static in my radio signal...and i get a little when my headlights are on.....but when theyre off its crystal clear...what could this be from?!
Its the cheap HID ballasts you are running. You have a few options: 1) Go to www.retro-solutions.com and look for a Radio Static Filter (or something along those lines) 2) Build a lead box around your current Headlight/Foglight Ballast 3) Go to www.ddmtuning.com and get some cheap digital ballasts. They are designed to NOT interfere with your radio. 4) Go back to stock bulbs Im running 3 sets of HID's from DDMtuning (Heads, fogs, KC's) and none of mine interfere with my radio. However, my first eBay set cause severe reception problems.
i have been running my HID head lights for about 2 years now with no problem, my HID fog lights have been running for about 7 months now with no problem, this started about 3-4 weeks ago at most
Then check all of the ballast grounds. Make sure everything is connected good and if need be physically mount your ballasts to your truck (not with sticky tape). That may help.
actually recently i took out my front bumper to install my tow hooks and didnt properally put the wires back in well, the balasts are drilled into the truck, none of that bullshit double sided tape....but i think that might be it.. thank man ill check the fogs this week forsure
I would have said check the grounds also. My HIDs fuzz out some of the farther away stations, but all the ones in town come in clear. Though I'm usually listening to mp3s so it doesn't really matter lol.
Now I know what to get you for Xmas, an EMM-PEE-TREE player! That will solve all of your fuzzy issues!
