6 1/2 FT bed over to a 8FT

    Can this be done?I have acces to a 8FT bed from a 2006 F-150 for free.However thoe i'm thinking no cause of the wheel wells location.I would love to have the 8FT bed on mine.

    It's not a direct bolt on, but you can do it.
    Take your bed off, disconnect everything, measure the weelbase difference, cut the frame and stretch it. Weld back together and extend wires, driveline, etc. You could swap a 35.7g fuel tank in at the same time, if you don't already have one.

    thanks for no helpful input. Any real reason why this swap wouldn't work?

    Like you said the frame and everthing including the driveshaft would have to be extended(cost thousands to do it)....Its not worth it!!

    If you are still willing to spend the dough and do this Extreme Mod, when cutting the frame, make sure its a Z cut, and re-enforce by tacking wire mesh prior to welding the seam. This is typically done on classic trucks. Most people find a 6.5' 68-72 C10 but want the 5.5, so they will do as I describe. I wouldnt count on any heavy loads, or real towing capacity.
