had my truck for about a month or so and i am replacing my passenger side inner tie rod tomorrow. does anyone have any suggestions in order to make it easier? keep in mind im using only hand tools. no air in my grandpas garage. but its better than my driveway in Michigan.
Pentatrating oil. Hand tools will do it. But you will need a ball joint /tie rod fork to drive in-between and pop the knuckle lose. You can get them from part houses.
yah the local autozone will rent me one for free. ive done it on my cherokee before just wondered if it was any different, its been too cold out to take a good look at it.

I just did all 4 of mine out in the snow covered driveway and it was 15* Haha took 2 hours (pulling the old out, replacing, getting the zerks in, greasing em, getting alignment close and test driving) and just a 13/16 socket on a 3/8 ratchet, 2 large adj wrenches and a small hammer... No oil, no ball fork. Just a couple light taps with an 8oz ball peen hammer and they popped right out and treaded out of the rod by hand... just count how many turns to take it out and turn it in that many times and you should be close...
Or jumping jacks!! Lol I have a heater but didn't set it up... what I did was put on 2 hoodies and shovel a 300 ft path out to the 1960 and by that time the cold felt good!
it took a bit more than a hammer to get mine out. i had to use the fork and a hammer at the same time (2 person job) but i got it done. lower ball joints are next, passenger side squeaking and drivers side a little play, guess i know what im doing next week.
