I get exactly what you're saying, what I'm saying is that "bolt" is your pinion shaft that had that nut on it along with 2 conical precision bearings and a crush sleeve and shim pack... once the sleeve is crushed at the factory it is useless and if you lose preload you have to put a new sleeve in to keep the pinion nut tight, I'm telling you that if you felt it bottom out on the sleeve and got a little more crush you MIGHT be ok.. but if its overtightened past 6-8 inch lbs expect to take it apart in the near future... I'm also sayin to peen the pinion nut into the threads on the shaft so it can't back off Just trying to help bud, another thing you can do is pull the carrier and pinion and hammer the bulge on the crush sleeve to re extend it, but then again they're only like $20
No prob man, just don't want ya guys ta chase your tails with a pinion nut that keeps backing off haha that's no fun, its more fun to fix it once and drive the hell out of it
