So I'm in the market for a new truck in a few months, but i'm already lookin now. Its my understanding that diesel engines don't truly get broken in until they hit 100k, is that right? If that is true, a 125-150k truck isn't a bad thing is it? It does make a HUGE difference in price. Any input would be great. Thanks!

That's right....I had a 99 F350 7.3 (company truck) that had 472,000 miles on it when I left the company.....ran like a champ day in day out. Actually 200k is nothing either....

100k should be fine, I'd get the tranny checked if it was an auto though. They take a lot of abuse. I'd only get a dually if I had a 5th wheel permanently hooked up, not worth it otherwise.

word, no dually, and go for a higher mileage just to get a cheaper costs. Believe me, if I buy the truck from a NON-ford dealership, it will be at a ford dealership getting inspected THE NEXT DAY! Thanks for everyones input.

What years you lookin into Ricky? I'm leaning towards 08-10. Don't need the costs of an 11, and want the creature comforts that came w/ the 08-10 (power fold mirrors, tailgate step, 6.4, etc.)

Just wondering...why were you wanting a dually to begin with? unless your pulling some serious stuff, all the time, its just a pain in the rear

I know someone with a 95 dually 7.3 with 670,000 and still running good and hauling a race car almost all summer.
