As long as you take it easy that shouldn't be a problem.

my dad has a '99 4.2 2wd, it runs great, the only issue is the exhaust manifold bolts rotted off and created a leak, so they got replaced, he was getting around 18 after tune up but is back down around 16 now

and if you could get it for $1000, i'd take it, but thats like a $4500-$5000 truck around here

and just imo, that red interior is fugly as all hell, just me, i like grey, black, and tan, cant stand red

I've got to admit, I've never seen that bodystyle with red interior. Ford must have dropped that color option the next year or something. In 2002 when I bought mine there were only a couple of seat/carpet colors offered and red wasn't one of them.

I had a 2000 Reg cab short box 5spd 4x4 with the 4.2, it had 124xxx I believe when I traded it in. I had it for about a year and I had zero problems with it. It had some rust on the bottom of the tailgate and the bottom of the doors started to get rusty. Other than that it was a great truck and got really good gas mileage compared to what I'm getting now. I never did the math. I kinda regret getting rid of it, but I wanted a v8 and more room so I got the screw. I couldve kept it cuz it was only $70/month (paid 3400) for it. I think you should get it, it looks like a good truck. I traded mine in at my dealership I work at (thats where I bought it for 3400) and they gave me $2900 for it. They sold it for $4000+taxes. I thought about selling it myself cuz I knew I'd get more, but I didn't want to be sitting on it for too long so decided to trade it in.

I would go for it, drive it a bit then resell for a bit more if you don't like it

$2500 at the most and you shouldn't do that but if you are looking for a beater/work truck or a little mud toy get it

I'm not a fan of the inside of that one lol my s10 had a red interrior and I painted it and got a seat cover lol

And that is all the motor you need for 40s to sling a little mud. My s10 had a 4cyl and could sling mud with 35s so I know that ford can do some good in the mud.
