So, instead of droppin $100 to get the transmission flushed this time (~110k) I was gonna pull the old filter and put in a new one. Anyone ever done this on our models? It seems pretty straight forward:drain, remove pan, remove filter, reassemble? How many quarts will I need also? TIA
thanks bro Another question. I read on another Forum that its 5 quarts for the pan. 13.9 quarts from empty. So, if I drain, then its only the pan that I am draining correct? Therefore it would be more beneficial to do a flush, then do the filter swap yes? that way i dont mix old TF w/ new TF, and by flushing first, I wont clog up a new filter... Thoughts?
Much more beneficial to have it flushed for sure but I changed my fluid regularly so that eventually I got it all
I've flushed twice, ~25k, ~50k. I'm around 110k now and I can tell the trans needs to be flushed or something. Guess I'll flush this weekend, and swap the filter out next. Thanks!
I flush mine roughly every 30,000 miles. Per my Mechanic he does a full flush though. I've always heard it is much more beneficial for a flush
thats a dealer flush sounds like it. there is a shop round here that will flush mine for like $125... but then i'm thinking of just doin the pan drop refill 3x, same price. Now, I don't "fill the pan, then install" right? I drain, drop pan and swap filter, reattach pan, then fill A/T from engine bay, correct?
you break all the bolts loose on the pan, make a huge mess cause there is no drain plug, then you clean mess and pan out. you scratch your head wondering what the little yellow plastic piece is in your pan. you come here, we tell you to throw that away. then you change filter attach pan. then add fluid from the top
