I can get a good deal on an intake. Just wondering what settings I'd need to change on my edge and if swapping my gotts/k&n to my dads 06 fx4 would cause any problems, he has an Edge also.

i cant imagine why you would have to change anything since you are not doing anything with maf. i may be wrong but just my opinion

Cold air intakes tend to lean your engine out, which may be compounded by the canned Edge tunes.

It is generally advised to have a tune specific for a cold air intake if you are running a tuner.

My Predator has either 4 or 5 different brand specific CAI tunes in it.

Very good points. The CAI do lean out the truck do to the minor increase in air flow, thus changing the voltage on your MAF reading, and not being able to adjust as such. If you cant get a canned tune for a CAI, there are a few alternatives.

You can either get a custom tune, or get a Diablo MAFia. The Diablo MAFia acts as a jumper between the new CAI tubing and the factory MAF connection. Your factory MAF Sensor is installed in the CAI tube still, but then the MAFia is on the back side of that. It has several settings depending on how rich/lean you are, and will put your truck back into proper AFR. I ran that on my Evo after installing headers and the CAI.

How much is that MAFia? I might just send my Edge out to PHP... Its killing me not to be able to use level 3, we only have 87,88, and 90 octane here...

And the Gotts/K&N shouldn't cause any lean issues on my dad's 06, right? I know it flows more air, and the 04-06s run lean, but I can't imagine it would flow enough to screw him up.

I did a quick search and found the MAFia for about $190

I run the Gotts/K&N now in my 04 and its not having any problems.

Yeah.... For that price I'll have Bill upgrade me.

Good to hear about that other part. I'll swap it over to him when I get mine in.

    Thanks Nick

a quick search would net a high price like that. here is a quick search on ebay: diablo mafia items - Get great deals on eBay Motors items on eBay.com!

low end for $100, high end $200, w/ several for $172. And thats just ebay. I'm sure I could find many places for around $100. I personally wouldnt want to run lean, or rich, as both will give you poor gas mileage. I noticed a solid 1mpg+ when I added it, so to me it was worth the coin.
