So I can't get it to work. I thought my 4pin might have been bad so I finally swapped it out for the factory 7pic I had lying around. Nothing. I know I had a good 12v source (needs a constant) cuz I ran a wire the length of the truck from the light to a wire in the cab that works my fogs. Anyways, all that works is the running lights. No hazard, no blinking, no reverse. WTF!?!?! I'm trying to resolve this w/out hard wiring the entire unit. Any have any suggestions or should I just get to the snippin and splicin already?
Hang on Vano. I'll run outside right now for you and unwrap my wires and let you know what relay you need too. Why did you run the constant to the fog wire anyway? It must not be 100% constant since you only have running lights. You only have running lights right? No brake or hazards? Reason I ask is cuz they all use the red leds therefor its not the leds that aren't working.
Yea exactly, running lights but no brake, hazard, or reverse. I had thought it was the LEDS since I could only get the driver side to work (scanned before too). Now, all I get is the running lights, across the whole length atleast. I'm pretty sure it was a constant 12v cuz thats how I have my fogs wired but I could be wrong.
The relay is relay 5 in the passenger side kick panel fuse box, it is actually a trailer battery charge relay. So it's always hot. My hot wire is spliced into orange from the 7 pin. It is the wire at say the 5 o'clock position when looking at the hitch from behind the truck.
I think I have a 4prong relay in the relay 5 spot but I'll have to check. its a Ford OEM one. And it is hot I know that. As for the orange... its about twice as thick as the rest of the wires coming of the pigtail, right?
Yes, the other thick one is white and I assume that was the ground. I would think that your relay should be the same since we're only 2 years apart but who knows. I didn't have the relay when I bought my truck new and other people have said they've always had it.
my other thick one is blue. hmmmm.... i'm bout to run a wire from the battery cuz then i'll know for SURE its a hot, then plug in the 4pin, and splice the white for reverse, and see what happens... if nothing... I think i'll sell this cheap to someone and get me what I had cuz I know it worked before. Guess I'll be waiting a few days to do this since its gonna be raining today.
