Auto transmission and fuel injection are the usual requirements for a remote start system.

^^^ sorry to thread jack. Are there remote starts for a 7.3? or is having to glow it before starting a factor?

Remote start would be nice for those cold mornings.

Idk about electric start on diesels, but there is an engine heater that circulates and warns the fluids.

No idea if they have em for pickups but my dads 5 ton has one. Get in, fires up no problem, super heat within less than a minute.

Yeah they have the engine block heater that heats up the cylinders etc, but the trucks not warm and ready drive right when you fire it up. Gotta let it run and get warm, especially when it's tuned.
It would just be nice to push a button from inside to fire it up while I'm making my coffe, brushing teeth etc..

I installed an Avital 3000 on da7.3 but swapped it out for a Audiovox APS997N two way paging alarm / remote start combo.
There is a wait to start wire on some of the remote starters that tap into the light wire on the dash's "wait to start". This allows the glow plugs to heat before the remote start cranks the motor.

Cool factor about the APS997N it also has a turbo timer that lets you set the parking brake upon arrival and starts a engine run timer to let the turbo cool down before it shuts off the engine. So I turbo time it, lock the doors with the remote which activates the alarm and walk away. The truck shuts itself off 5-10 minutes later depending on turbo timer time selected.
Also has 8 effective output channels and temperature controlled start mode. Somethings I couldn't find in the Directed Electronics brands "Viper" "Python" "Clifford" systems with all the features the APS997N has.
