Well even though I'm away from my truck. So can't mod it. So I got nothing better to do so I'll ask questions. Well right before I left for boot camp. I noticed my truck had a knock on cold start up in the morning. Once the truck was warm it would go away. So would this be an exhaust leak? Also another question, when I turn on my a/c it makes a small rattling noise. Works good and freezes your butt off. I'm just don't want it messing up. Do any of your guys ac make funny noises? These are just minor things to me.

hmm i know my car is a diesel but it makes a knocking sound when starting and mine are the cold injectors. I think yours is doing it because the oil is warming up and until it builds the correct pressure it does that. Also make sure your oil filter is up and running (clean). And about your AC, it could be a number of things. Maybe its the AC compressor or some belts that need adjusting. Haha i have also heard that sometimes, your hood isnt held in place properly and your AC makes the car idle at a higher speed when your stopped so the hood is rattling. I doubt thats what yours is doing tho! And btw, the AC rattling really is a normal sound and it doesnt necessarily mean that its broken. But then again, a checkup is never bad! And good luck in boot camp, i am jealous!!

I already graduated bootcamp and done with mct lol. I'm at my mos school now. But I think the a/c is normal cause I listened to my buddies truck today. Same noise, I think my truck only does it in winter months. Cause that's when it started. I also change the oil every 3000 miles so I know it's good. Lol when I get back home I'll find out cause it's summer now. I know it's not the cam phasers cause those things sound like a diesel. My truck sounds nothing like that. Mine is quiet when warmed up. Also could be a piston slap as well. I don't really think it's anything major.

    I really think it's a cracked manifold.

Listen to a couple other 5.4s for a comparison. They're pretty noisy motors, mine has a slight tick too, but nothing I've ever been concerned about.

A set of Long Tube Headers will definitely fix your problem though :peace:

Yea, I already got tons of plans for this truck I'll start a build thread once I get the LEDs taillights, led lights to replace the stock ones and bed cover. ;). Performance is last but 4:10 gears will be the next thing I do to it. I really don't care how noisy the 5.4 is. It's a good motor if you change the fluids and crap that goes normally bad on them.
