At least that's what I thought when I got home. The right rear wheel was smoking and smelled like dammit.

I figured the parking brake shoes were stuck even though I never use the parking brake but that doesn't appear to be the case now that I've got it torn down. Just as they should be, the things hardly look like they've ever even been used.

I have no idea wtf is going on. The pads were a little tight but not too horrible. I guess they could be dragging. That's all I need at the moment is to have to replace a damned caliper. :suicide:

Guess I'll grease everything up and put it back together and cross the ol' fingers.

Caliper slide bolts not being greased was the problem on the right front of the F250 1 year after paying for a front brake job when they started smokin from not releasing.

Grease those slider pins/bolts. There has been a lack of sufficient lube on those on every Ford I have ever touched. Go ahead and get some new pads and turn those rotors. If it was smoking then they are both glazed over.

Well, after cleaning and greasing everything then putting it back together... the damn thing hung again halfway to work. I've dropped it off at a buddy's shop for him to replace the caliper.

Ford flushed reliability down the toilet on these 11th gen trucks. I've had the clunk, the vibe, the stuck injectors (multiple), cam phaser issues, the leaking 3rd brake light and now the stuck brakes. This truck doesn't even have 50,000 miles on it yet. This is the most unreliable vehicle that I've owned in almost 30 years, actually. That's extremely sad considering my 97 model was still running the factory battery when I traded it in on this one. It had a wiring harness short the day that I picked it up and outside of that, it never had a single issue for 130k miles.

Caliper replaced and the new one locked up in one trip around the block.

The 12" rubber brake line on the right rear collapsed internally, acting like a check valve not letting the caliper open back up.

If you ever have this happen, cross your fingers that someone near you stocks those lines. There wasn't one in a 300 mile radius of me so the truck was down for 3 days waiting on one to get here.

This one came with soft and hard line also. I tried the dealer after having no luck at the parts stores and there were none in the dealer network within a 4 hour drive, either.

Just going by the gauge, I think my gas mileage has doubled now. :jester: It's probably been dragging for a while and just not getting hot enough for me to smell it.
