315 are closer to 35s, usually around 34.8" or so. Since you live in LA, those would be a good A/T tire, some raptor guys use the red letter grabbers instead of the BFGs and say they work well

There's a guy with a Raptor on here with em and he says they're awesome tires. Not sure how loud they are, but they look bad ass.

I've had General tires a couple of times and they've always seemed like quality tires.

a guy of PSN put them on his 2011 F250 6.7 and took them back the next day cuz when it rained he broke loose the rear at 55 mph by hitting the accell on the cruise control. just fyi

The only difference between a 315 and a 305 is an extra 3/8" in width. Whether it's a 33, 35 or whatever completely depends on the next number.

Those red letters look like they will scuff off pretty easily. It is just some sort of ink over a normal white letter.

The second number is percentage of the section width that is the sidewall height. For example, 305/75/16 is a 34 in tire with a 9in sidewall because 75% of 305 mm or 12", is 9". 315/75/16 is technically a 34.6 in tire with a 9.3 in sidewall
