Now I have read online, I see lots and lots of pros an cons of gutting a cat. I only have one now since I cut the other one off when I did my exhaust. I'm not looking for power but it to be a little louder. Lets see what people have to say about this, I would like to know if anyone has done this and made a before and after video. I have 1 cat, 3" pipe to a flomonster super 10 "knock off of flowmaster" any videos would really help. I want the truck louder just don't know if this is what Ti do. Please let me know. You guys know, highschooler upgrade here!
It's a lot easier to gut the cats in that gen truck then the newer ones, because the computer relies so heavily on the o2 sensor. I would gut the other cat to even the banks out though.
The cat I have left is 2 in 1 out and it would be harder to weld in a y. When you say even out the banks what do you mean?
Yes, the driver side and passenger side headers go down a pipe a Y into the first cat, 2 in 1 out then I cut the 2nd cat and put 3" to super 10 then 2 1/2" put
As long as your o2 sensors are Infront of the cats you can gut em. Keep in mind depending on your state law and inspections it's illegal to do in some places and won't pass an I/m. Looks like your have to cut the cat out, get a huge 20" long 1" drill bit and start grinding up the "honey comb" inside of it till it all eventually gets cut up an falls out. Then weld back in place
