offset question?

I'm sure this has been answered before but, what will make the wheel stick out more? +1 offset or -12 offset?

I am running a -12, gives me a 4.5" back space for my wheels.

ok I can't see the picture right now because I'm at school and my school blocks photobucket but I think -12 offset makes the wheel poke out more then +1 but I want to make sure

 

yeah negative offset pushes the wheels out further.
