Does anyone know of a post/write-up/anything that will tell me everything I may ever possibly ever need to know about suspension? Sure, I could Google it, but I just want to make sure that it's a reliable source or one that you all have used before, you know? Thanks for any help
Hmm...Well, I like to learn about as much as I can about mechanics. I like it, hope to go to school for Mechanical Engineering, and maybe someday go to design engines for Ford. My mind's wandering, so back on topic: I don't really NEED to know anything, I just wanna learn it so I don't sound like a retard when I start talking about cars with someone.
go check out some suspension systems from different manufacturers. ull find different lifts for different trucks/cars..etc theres trucks our there that are 2wd that have coil springs in the front and the 4wd trucks have torsion bars (t-bars), like the 97-03 f150s, now just about all rangers have t-bars, 4wd and 2wd. most nowadays have independant fronts and solid rears (except dodge they have coils), except most 3/4ton trucks, except chevy...who still has the independant. i believe most jeeps that are 4x4 have solid axles front and rear. most cars have independant fronts with struts and independant rears, except some muscle cars that have solid rears...like the mustang...i think. a good link is this: HowStuffWorks "Search" scroll down....and start reading. there is a lot of info in there (which is why i love that site) I too am an mechanical engineering student...and I LOVE IT!
