Wow, I'm actually surprised at that response. ha ha. I appreciate the honesty though. Like I said, it's not that I don't have the money, it's just that I know the costs will add up eventually as you stated. It is a daily, but someday when I get another vehicle I'm going to turn it into a trail rig. And put a 4" lift on it. So I figured if I'm going to do it eventually, why not now? lol. But Just not sure about the continued costs of modding.. As I already stated, I probably won't go with it for now, but it's going to eat at me forever. ha ha. Thanks for the advice too.
So, I finally got the chance to actually pay attention to my truck today and took a look at my struts. And it turns out the snap rings on my 5100's were in the wrong position. So I got no level out of them. Which is unfortunate, but oh well, sh!t happens. So I'm looking to buy a leveling kit now. I'm thinking the Hell Bent Steel one. Anyone have any opinions on it? Also got a chance to install my HID's from Jon_To. Here are a couple pics, just crappy phone ones, but I'll take some nice ones eventually when I get everything done. I also took off my mud flaps, it looks way better without them. No side pictures unfortunately. I'm terrible with the whole picture taking thing.
Instead of spending more money on a leveling kit, why not just get your 5100s set so you have it leveled.
Because in order to do the the strut needs to be removed from inside the coil spring. And since I don't have a spring compressor, I would need a shop to do it. Which would be about 200 in labour. Whereas the HBS leveling kit it 75 and I can install it myself. I would love to do it as you mentioned, but its not cost efficient.
^^ I did not know that. But as far as I know there are no autozones in Canada. So I would have to try to find an equivalent. But, great news. I talked to the shop today and told them that they f-ed up, and they are going to pull the strut, re-adjust the snap ring, and put it all back together for free. That's the good news. Now I have some terrible news. I was driving home today, and when I got about half an hour away I heard a nasty howling sound coming from my rear end. I jacked it up and put it in gear and it sounds like it's coming from the rear diff. So I'm going to have that looked at tomorrow after they re-do my struts. They told me worst case scenario is 5000. If thats what it will be, I am going to start looking for a new vehicle and keep this one around as a project.
