In my own imaginary world, where. Respect for wome
My uncle has an 02 w/ the 7.3L PS. He called it a pig the other day when I saw him, said maybe 12mpg's. I know he can get up to 16+ w/ some mods. Everything is stock on it. he's riding stock r&p, 4wd, 305/70/16 AT tires.

Please tell me all the mods to help him w/ the mpg's. I think I can hustle a bike from him if I help him out w/ this.

I'm already thinkin a chip/tuner, but whats best for this model? Also, is a CAI kit worth it? what other mods besides c/t can i do? Thanks in advance guys!

My friend has the '02 PSD CC 4x4, We both put on the Bully Dog 4 bank, RFI air box with oil/cotton gauze filter, 3 gauge A-pillar pod and trans shift kit the same day in 2003.

Not much fuel saving aerodynamics by moving a "barn-door" front end on a 7,000lb truck.

He has BFG 285's and hauls arse loaded with tools and building materials.

I have Goodyear 265's @ 75psi with an ARE Z Series camper shell. About the average load I carry is 50 or less gallons of diesel in an in bed transfer tank.
Somtimes I pull a double axle 7,000lbs rated landscaping trailer.

I'm getting around 17mpg or less on highway trips unloaded, without rolling coal on max chip setting.

I got 23 mpg's going to Memphis and back the other day. I'm getting 18 in the city. I have after market intake,4" turbo down tube and exhaust. Bully Dog GT programmer. That's about it. I'm on 37" MT's. You have to let it breathe and get the exhaust out....that's the 2 keys to the equation.

Mine is a 2 wheeler but I average 20 or so in the city. I also drive it like I stole it tho. I can get plenty more outta her. Either get a cold air intake or do the DIY intake with the NAPA 6637 filter, a good exhaust system and a tuner. Not only will it wake the motor up but it will increase the MPG'S. Hope this helped!

DP tuner (im ordering mine very soon) Pillar gauges with boost, pyrometer, and tranny temp, check out the ZOODAD mod here " TikiWiki " its under the cold air intake mod. also a 4 inch turbo back, westtn is right, gotta let that thing breathe. After my chip my next step will be a shift kit and some after market injectors. But the shift kit, clutches, and a bigger torque converter will help out a lot. Im saving my tranny mods for when it goes.

12 is about right for a stock 7.3. mine gets 11 right now with the 35s, and my dads gets 12-15. his is identical to mine minus the lift and tires.

Rippin into the tranny to do a different torque converter and clutches is far from cheap and definitely not the smartest thing. I just had mine built and trust me.....it helped my MPG's 0%! It helped my wallet get empty though! Stick to the basics for MPG's. CAI, tune, exhaust, etc. Build a tranny when it needs to be built! Otherwise its a waste unless you got some serious ponies rippin outta your hood!
