What do the tire numbers really mean???

Ratings, reviews and specifications for Yokohama Geolandar MT+ tires

Now i'm looking for suggestions on some nice 16'' rims

 

Think i've found my rims too

They have them in a 8" width and 10" width. Not sure what the overall difference is there.....???

 

I think 8inch width with spindles kicks them rims out pretty good

 

Really Plain English:

235/70R16: 235 is the width of the tire casing in millimeters at its widest point. 70 is the height of the tire in millimeters as a percentage of the width from rim bead to tread. In this example, 0.70 x 235 = 164.5mm.

To find the rated diameter convert the rim size in inches to millimeters then add twice the height, (16 x 25.4) + 164.5 + 164.5 = 735.4 millimeters or 28.95 inches. Or convert the height to inches, 2 x164.5/25.4 = 12.95 inches + 16 = 28.95 inches.

Other letters denote applications and speed ratings.

Note that the width of the rim will effect the width of the tire to some extent, probably not enough to be of any real concern.

 

Thats what i figured too. Reckon that tire and wheel combo will look good?

Well shat, i kinda wanna little bigger tire than his.....

 

then i may do the same tire but 315/75/R16

 

I was talking about how they stick out. not overall tire size lol
