Alright Thanks guys, now ill be able to save them both. And 99, i forgot that he said what part exactly to cut.
we used a grinder with a cutting wheel on it. we cut right at the end of the funnel part of that metal piece. that's where its threaded. we cut maybe a 1/4 of an inch off. just cut small pieces off until you can get the bolt loose. those core mounts gave us the most problems. I was pissed when I couldn't get the drivers side bolt out. we had already been working for probably 4 hours or more. ( first timers) we torched every single bed bolt since they were so badly corroded.
Lol, i just got mad at my bed bolts and cut them up to. Then compleatly removed the bed and a buddy, as a birthday present, bedlined my frame. So i dont think ill have to worry about rust in the back anymore....
haha there you go. I still gotta finish coating my frame. I was trying to take them bed bolts out with an impact wrench while my friend torched em underneath, power tools really don't help much. they don't have enough torque to break the bolts loose ( I think they stated in the installation instruction that power tools won't help much) torque wrench worked wonders during that whole installation.
Ok today the passenger side bolt just gave up and spun off after seeing the damage done to the drivers side bolt. Sadly, i need you buy that top metal peice, Dad accidentally cut it in half..... Dont know how. i was working on the bed drilling bed liner outta the holes for the bed bolts.
you have to hold everything with channel locks cuz its all threaded and all spins. then you drill out the threads so the new bolts go through. and theres a nut on top of the bolt you have to get in on and hold too
the only ones that need to be drilled out are the two front core support metal pieces. all of the others have to be held with channel locks from underneath while someone torques them from inside the cab to 75 or 90lbs can't remember which. The back 4 mounts that were the hardest to get too. the two inbetween the front seats and back seats require the carpet to be pulled up. I think the back bench seat needs to be taken out. I cut two small holes in the carpet just big enough to get my torque wrench in. The back two mounts in the cab were a pain in the ass too. you have to pul the carpet up from underneath the rear bench seat from the back of the cab so you can get to the two mounts back there. that's if you've got the back bench seat. ( I'm on my phone so I can't see if you've got a bench seat or not)
^yep i had to pull my rear bench, and we completely forgot about the ones behind the seat at first. we started jackin and was like "wait...why is the bed movin?? and we torqued em to what felt right haha. no torque wrench. and everything the directions said to disconnect/drain/remove we put on our "well just have to watch it" list haha. redneck engineerin at its finest
