Reading fuel gauge issues?

    So I'm curious about something in regards to my fuel gauge. Basically I don't think mine is showing accurate fuel levels as it fluctuates a lot, more so on the bottom half. I can also get all the way down to the E and it on'y takes 16 gal to fill it up, that seems a bit small for a FS truck oh and I never see the low fuel light.
    So, I suspect even at E there is several gallons still in the tank, is this normal for these trucks? If so is there a fix or is it something you just have to deal with?
    BTW, 2002 F150 FX4!

    i have a 20 gallon tank on mine and i know what your talkin about, the top half moves slow, but bottom half you can watch it drop

    mine doesnt do that but isnt the top bigger than the bottom? cuz my tank kinda slopes...

    Huh, my top 1/4 seems to drop fast then it holds steady for a while then boom quick drop..

    sounds like you have a messed up float or something. that dont seem normal
