first off heres what im looking at.... 2001 Ford F350 4X4 w/plow since its plowed and has 85k on it mostlikely original front end... now i work on f-350-f450 regually.. but they`re all 2wd.. now my ?? is how hard is it to do the balljoints? what im really asking is how much of a pita is it to take aprt the locking hub... i can do the ball joints easily got the press etc... but i`ve never disassembled a locking hub... sooo any and all insight is greatly appriciated... it looks like a killer truck i just wish i could find a 350 6spd manual with a 7.3l ext cab... like my buddy had...
I'm sure its not too bad. Just make sure you have a manual to tell you what order everything goes in. Idk if I would ever buy a plow truck though. The ones up here are ragged on hard during the winter, and those front ends take a pounding from snow, ice, rocks, sidewalks, everything.
wish i could help with the hubs. it looks like it's clean and in good shape, but plow trucks around here have been to hell and back. rebuild the front, and i don't think there will be trouble if it's as good as it looks. you could even make some extra cash with it in the winter...
well i got my driveway to plow my sisters 1 neighbors and parents friends have an apartment buidling that has big lot... soo money to be made lol
sweeeet... u rock batman!!! i dont care what people say!! haha just messing man thanks ill keep all you posted... i may go look at it saturday.... just an hour ride in my truck would be like full tank to go see it and if it aint worth the ride there goes that gas for nada....
if you get me pics of the front hubs and ball joints i can walk you through step by step on replacing those too...i can also tell you e=what tools you'll need to do the job...and i can tell you how to figure out if theyre bad and if it needs bearings and whatever else...man i took the 4x4 apart so many times on the nite and other newer fords too...i got your back bro
haha thanks... if im in there im doing it all... illl get new bearings seals etc from ford moog balljoints... i`ve done many hubs on my truck... but nothing with manual locking hubs its new tooo me.... im leary bout the truck just because its also an automatic... if it was tghe 6speed it would be a no brainer... worst that it needs is a clutch and thats simple on them trucks.... idk i gott look at it..
