Thanks guys. I just called the dealership and left a message for the shop foreman. On another note, I guess tha truck is leaking AND burning oil since it also has oil in the intake. I can't seem to find where it is coming from, but it wasn't the valve cover gasket. It runs down the front of the truck, and leaks about 1 quart every 1500 miles or so. Any help on replacing the PCV valve (been googling with no answers) or a problem spot for a leak would be appreciated.
Sorry for the late post. The oil leak could be cause from the head gaskets. Is the oil around the valley and underneath the intake? Or Is it actually in the intake? Heads could be warped if previous owner drove the snot out of it before engine warmed up which could cause a oil leak.
Check for a vacuum leak anywhere in your system too. That could cause the codes and you might find a leak in your ststem
This is really hard for me to diagnose without seeing it. Do this, clean off your engine really good and keep an eye on it for oil leaks. Once you find it post a picture of it. But do this after you get your injectors checked. Lol
If it was a vac leak he would hear a whistle and his truck would not run right at all. Also good point man. Check your cats if your injectors ate fugged up.
Ya that is true. I know in previous cases of setting off p0171 and p0172 the problem was a vacuum leak but this sounds like injectors
Could be either one just really hard to do this over the web. But I will do my best to help
Just got off the phone with the service manager at the dealership. He ran my vin and said that there wasn't a program for the injectors on my truck. I told him what it was doing, and he said that it was probably a vacuum leak. He told me that it would smoke, rattle, drive terrible, and possibly not even start if it was a stuck injector. I've heard folks talk about the "elbow hose" that is prone to leaking, but I thought that was on 97-03 trucks. I don't know where to start looking for the leak. Is the vacuum system related to the PCV valve? My truck does have a "rattle" sound when you crank it up, but I've heard that is normal for these trucks.
