Don't know exactly how to phrase it but at lower RPM's, my truck stumbles. I did a full tune up about 4 or so months ago including plugs and wires, cleaned MAF, cleaned air filter, replaced fuel filter, cleaned throttle body, and ran injector cleaner through it. When I did the plugs and wires, it stumbled a bit and I just found that one of my wires wasn't on all the way. That fixed the problem and it ran great. I was averaging 13 to 14 MPG and was happy. But now the stumbling is back and the first thing I did was make sure that the wires were snug, and they were. There are NO codes. I'm not sure what it could be at this point. It's a 2001 4.2 w/ 112,xxx miles M5OD tranny. Sorry for the long post guys.
Sounds like your coil pack may be getting ready to go out. It could also be the EGR, or the DPFE sensor. I've replaced my DPFE sensor twice already and only have 85K on my 4.2.
Yeah? Is there any way to test to see if the coil pack is going bad? Same with the DPFE. And sorry I accidently posted in the 04-08 Section. haha didn't even notice. Mods, please move it? haha
I'll move it for ya. You can check the coil pack with a multimeter same thing with the DPFE. Not sure with the truck not throwing any codes though. How long has it been doing it?
No CEL's at all? Sounds to me like it may be the DPFE sensor, but they usually throw a code somewhat quick. Try getting it to stumble if that makes sense. Keep it revved at the RPM where it's skips the most. Maybe it will throw a code then, so we can narrow it down a little. I've been through it with mine a few times. My problems come from not driving mine enough. Carbon build up fuggs stuff up dude. Most of the time it was the DPFE sensor or the coil and one time I had a wire that was too close to the manifold that was arching.
Nope none at all. Just pluggd my scanner in yesterday to check. But i will try getting it to throw a code tomorrow with the scanner. and I'll check all my wires to make sure there's enough clearance.
See if you can get it to throw one. Let me know what comes up if so or if not. Hopefully I can help you through this bro.

I dunno if this is relevant but I have headers on my truck but stock cats so I increased exhasut flow is causing my cats to go bad becasue I can here at rattle/squeal inside the cat. I just didn't know if this had to do with the stumble because the stumble felt the same when it was just a loose wire, if that makes sense? hahha
