The 194s and 37s (72s) are ordered bulb-only. The old bulb comes out of the twist lock and the LED goes right in its place, just like a replacement bulb, so you can re-use the existing twist locks (I had extras from a wreck sitting around). That'll cover the gauge cluster and temp panel. Headlight bulb is a pain in the posterior, but with patience and solder, it can be done.
You can make the ac panel match the headlight switch if you want. Just take the ac panel apart and pull the blue film out, it comes out in one piece.
ok so maybe its just that im tired and cant think very well right now. (done 3, 4 pg college papers in last 2.5 hours) but i tired this awhile back and ordered the wrong bulbs so which do i need for a 2002 f150 dash?
I believe that gauge clusters 2006 and earlier use: 7x T10 Wedge LEDs (aka 194/161, your choice of color). 5 are for the cluster, 2 are for the HVAC controls 2x 74 (aka 37/73) LEDs. These are the 2 smaller ones that fill in the upper part of the gauge cluster. Some list these online as T5. Make sure that these are "wide angle" - there are many to choose from, and some come with intensity ratings (measured in Lumens).
The higher the degree, the wider the throw of light. These dash clusters actually need 180 degree to best mimic an incandescent bulb as far as light pattern. So, go for the highest degree that you can get. If you check the pictures I posted, those LEDs were actually an assembly of 9 LEDs per "bulb" to get wide angle coverage. As a result, the ones I installed arent SUPER bright, but very comfortable, with minimal "hot spots' that you get with narrower (lower degree) LEDs. These are what I installed (9 LED, not listed as super bright, cool white)
