A couple months ago I had the rear T-case seal replaced due to it leaking. A couple weeks after that the front T-case seal started leaking real bad. Shop wants a grand to fix it. I have an engine oil leak that I CANNOT track down, thankfully it's pretty small. As of a few days ago my IAC valve started acting up, throwing codes. Cleaned it and it worked for a day then CEL came on again, then went off later that day. Probably gonna have to replace that. $80 from rockauto. This morning I hop in my truck to go to work and as soon as I pull out of the garage I notice a crack in my windshield. It started at the edge of the windshield and went in and up 8-10 inches. I have no idea how it cracked. It literally did it while the truck was parked in the garage during the night. Theres 6 other rock chips, all of which have been professionally repaired. This crack didn't start from a chip though, started right on the edge of the glass. All this on a windshield that has only been in the truck since last summer. Rant over
is yer oil leak under the motor? I replaced my oil pressure sensor and havent checked it for a leak yet but I need to wipe it down then go back and check.
It's got 165k on it. I'll snap a pic of the leak sometime, maybe someone will have an idea what's causing it.
What you got going on is not common. That seal can be fixed for less. The oil leak is small I wouldn't sweat it. Some of the best trucks ive ever had leaked a little hear amd there and had over 200k on them. The windshield should be under warranty if it's only a year. They may have not seated it right. Call and tell them what happened. In the future when your going to replace one seal go ahead and have the rear seal done while it's apart.
I agree with west on all of it. My oil leak was dripping and left a inch around puddle when parked. If yers is like that get under it and wipe it all down then drive it for a bit and the check and see where it has the most oil at. I'm still not sure my leak is fixed but my oil pressure goes up when I start it and I don't gotta drive it for it to come on. If you have a warranty on the windshield call em up and see if it's covered. And like west said u don't only do one seal. Same when u do head gaskets. If u did one head gasket chances are you will end up blowing the other. Sent from my bad ass phone
you gotta learn that a dealership will rip you a bee one for every repair. you can get seals done for way less.
There's no way I'll pay a grand to replace a seal. Actually, they were going to discount me down to $650 because they already had it partially apart and discovered the leak wasn't what they thought. I didn't have the money and told them no. The rear was the first one to leak, and was only $150 to have replaced. Apparently, the rear seal is very easy, while the front seal requires disassembly of the T-case. I plan to replace the seal myself sometime, I just have to order one up and find the time to do it. In the meantime, based on the T-case using the same type of oil as the Transmission, I added some Bars Leaks Transmission Stop Leak to the T-case. There was a small puddle of fluid on the floor that night, but I haven't had any fluid on the floor since, and theres no T-case fluid anywhere on the chassis or where it was dripping from. So, call me crazy but I may have found a temporary solution. As for the windshield, it's been a year and half and I really doubt they will do any sort of warranty on it. I'm going to get the crack stopped for now and replace the windshield again when summer comes.
ICA valve problems are common with 97 98 f150s I just replaced mine. Don't feel bad man. I just spent 1,500 this summer between doin my own body work and replacing some stuff and new exhaust. Got to pay to play.
