So, they did my plugs and wires. 3 of the plugs were loose. But nothing major with them. The fuel filter looked to have never been replaced. It pulled the O-rings and everything out, so they had to fix that. They looked at the manifolds, all the studs were fine. But on the drivers side, the part of the manifold that goes to the EGR (i believe it was) rusted thru. So we're gonna do a quick fix to that to hopefully stop the ticking. But was warned, everything is VERY rusty, and getting real thin. So its a matter of time till it gives out elsewhere. So im running on borrowed time with the manifolds. And when if does have to be done, they said its gonna be a pita; As the bolts are so rusted, they dont even resemble bolts anymore. If it makes it thru winter, i'll be happy. And probably drop some cash on headers and be done with it for a few years. EDIT: Also, i had a gasket leaking too.. dont remember off hand which one it was; iirc, had something to do with the coolant. I'll have to ask again. Was told to watch if it gets worse, as it just is getting the frame damp.
Just throw some new manifolds on it. Headers always end up leaking. Edit: headers are about the same price as manifolds.
I seen they were about the same in price. Not 100% sure what route i'll go. But dont want to think about it till its necessary lol.
It migh be cheaper to get some manifolds from down here. The ones on my truck only have the usual surface rust. I could pull a set from the local j/y and ship them to you .
Yea i'll let ya know when im ready. Im gonna last out till next spring for it. Gotta get some cash put away, and cant push driving the scab much longer. Only a matter of time till we start the wicked snow.
Only had the truck 2 years, hardly put any miles on it. Its always been a thought but never got to it.
Gotcha. Yeah it's easy insurance is the way I see it. You'd be surprised at how nasty they get just over a 10K mile period.
