so my 2002 f150 5.4l runs great! but soetimes when i start it, it cranks-then pauses- then starts. and idk what it is theres no codes?

also sometimes it will start and it feels like the engine shakes then starts

plugs just changed, oil just changed, and 150,000 miles runs amazing

Battery might be a bit weak maybe for the pause, otherwise its a big V8 that takes a lot to crank over. What type oil are you running?

    Welcome by the way!

Sounds like a solenoid since it seems that the starter itself really isn't having a problem....I had to replace the solenoid on my 2000 F150 when I had it.

I'd start with the solenoid. It's cheaper than a starter.

    Time for a new battery

Selenoid is an easy swap but I don't believe we have a write up on it. Let me see what I can find from my phone otherwise I will be on my computer later

alright now what about the engine shaking when it starts (sometimes) could this be cause the battery is not cranking fast/hard enough so it starts very poorly?
