I'm running a LFP quick change lower with The stock size 8# and the stock lightning upper. I wanted to run a 2 or 4 pound plus lower but I didn't want to risk it in the winter on the NA block.
the blocks are the same, as are the internals. you should be fine with the factory lightning setup. i still have the factory pullies and i romp on it all the time. If you go with a 4# or 6# you would really need to get a dyno tune to be safe. but in your case a precanned tune should work. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
i know the blocks are the same, but i thought the rods and pistons are different, plus forged cranks? im using JJ to tune my truck. so its not going to be "canned".
update for today. connected my factory heater hose on the intake took out the water pump and realized i forgot i ordered the wrong one. so i have to wait and get a spacer shipped out and it will be here on monday or tuesday. installed the alternator pulley bridge put the blower on plenum and throttlebody throttle and cruise control cables LFP quick change lower pulley thats what ive got so far. i need to drop the gas tank again and redo the worn out vent hoses on it. next thing im goin to do is wire up the IC pump.
nope all our rods are junk. from what i understand all 5.4s had forged pistons and cranks. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Tell me you went with twin 255's on your pump replacement. You may run the risk of starving the motor for fuel with a single set up. Also make sure JJ knows you are using a N/A lower end as the comp ratio is higher than an S/C lower. Looking good though. You'll enjoy it!
ok, they did use the same rods, but the just Lightnings had forged pistons(compression ratio to 8.4:1) and cranks. all 5.4's made between 97-01 had the forged crank. All 4v navigators had it. All lightnings/harleys got it as well. 02-04 2v's had a 50/50 shot of getting the forged crank or the cast one.
