My uncle has worked for Cummins for 39 years.
    I told him I bought a F250 PSD back in 2002.
Couple of years later I went to see him and he asked me what kind of diesel it was again.

I told him again "Ford", adding "a Navistar International T444E", he said:

"The Lord will forgive you." :jester:

All trucks have their fair share of issues.

sure. here's the paraphrased version i can go more in depth if wanted.
the absolute number one issue is the stock lift pump failure because it's not designed to work in this application- this is a common reason for injection pump failure, an aftermarket pump solves this.
other things that don't matter as much are:
-the exhaust manifold is prone to cracking because of expansion/contraction as a one piece cast design an aftermarket multi-piece solves this issue.
-the vacuum pump to power steering pump gasket often should be replaced as it will leak oil and coat the driver underside of the truck (the crank case breather tube adds to this mess)
-many the 53 series of blocks were cast incorrectly, people often say to stay away from them, but less than 1% of them really crack and if a truck has more than 60k miles chances are slim to none it will crack.
-and of course the front suspension/steering on these truck is just stupid
that being said, my truck is great, so are 7.3's and 6.0's, they all have quirks, but as long as you know what you're dealing with you'll have it easy.

Diesels are completely different to own and are just expensive. Gotta pay to play and just have to look at the big picture. Sack up and get one already or sticknto gas :ROFLJest:

Hey, not sure if this has been mentioned because I don't have time to read the whole thread, but not all 53 blocks are bad. Brazil and Mexico made them, and as far as I could find, the Mexican 53's were good blocks, but the Brazil ones had thinner walls around the water jackets.
