So my best bet with the cats would be gut em first? And if that dont fix it then change the sensors? And when i gut em cant i jus drive my front tires up on some ramps and leave it runnin and put a water hose in the tips till it hits the cats and then turn it on? Or is that not a good idea? Not a good idea. 1) If you're front tires are up, then you're exhaust is angled back and the water probably won't flow uphill all the way to your cats. 2) The Cats won't get "busted up" by water. see pic 3) The water trick only works on making glasspacks louder, cuz it breaks up the fiber'glass' in the muffler. Get some universal Magnaflow cats and new O2 sensors. Have you pulled any codes yet?
There no way i can get around buying brand new cats? Dont got money for that right at the moment. And yes i had codes pulled and they were something along the lines of o2 sensors being bad and random multiple misfire.. Sent from my piece of shat.
the misfires are probably from your O2 sensors telling your computer the wrong info on your A/F ratio. Get those replaced first and see if it helps. New Maggie cats are only $80/each....
^^ im broke son drivin about 100miles a day burns money fast. And ill try replacing the sensors this weekend. Thanks for the help tho guys. Sent from my piece of shat.
Lets hope ill keep yall posted and let yall know what happens saturday when i change em And i jus "checked" if my cats were clogged and i may have checked the wrong way but i drove home about 10 miles running about 3200 rpm to see if they were glowing when i got home but they werent only the manifolds were glowing... If thats means anything i dont know? Or is that normal for the manifolds the get hot enough to glow? And in sorry for so many long post i just trying to keep from having to have the motor rebuilt AGAIN... Sent from my piece of shat.
To gut the cats, you gotta take them off the truck. I have 4 so I cut the pipe in between the cats, then with a hammer and pipe, I broke everything up inside them. Once clean, I welded the pipes back together and reinstalled. Your cats are fine if they weren't glowing. To reset computer, pull pos and neg cable off battery, then touch then together for 5 seconds. This will drain computer stored voltage and reset computer. I'm with Bama, sounds like a bad coil pack.
Well i guess tomorrow ill reset the computer myself and get codes pulled one more time before i work on her this weekend. But ill probally change the o2 sensors anyways... Couldnt hurt.. And tomorrow night ill try the misting water on the plugs plug wires n coil pack to see if theres any arcs. But if i dont see any does that mean the coil still could be bad? And would it hurt to gut the cats? Sent from my piece of shat.
