The way I look at it is I'm not going to put a $300 lift on a $18000-$20000 truck. But I have a low mileage diesel, if I've got the cash to drive this thing, I've got the extra 600 to spend on a lift. But I know figs is a gasser with a little more miles (comparatively). You don't buy a $50000 porche and paint the rims black, you go buy awesome expensive yuppy rich business man new black rims ha ha.

But with the straight axle you get the actual benefits to a suspension lift. And it's so easy to do a suspension lift on a straight axle.

And for the record, if I were lifting a truck, I'd lift it suspension wise, and still rock a BL.

Lifting is fairly foreign to me, this is why I'm asking is all. I always thought you lifted a truck to make it high. BL's lift it and allow you to run taller tires with less headache.

They also tend to show lots of frame, some even air above the frame requireing some sort of trim, and put your bumpers too low unless you get the hardware to relocate them too.

Nothing against them, but they are what they are.

Nice choice on going back to the stockers, Fig.

You also lift to gain play in the suspension for flexing and what not. Stock suspension only has so much down travel so when you get onto coils and such on a solid axle you can gain a lot of flex vs an Ifs.

i agree with everything you said^ why put a cheap plastic lift on a 10k-20k+ truck?

a leveling kit sure as hell lifts the front end of the truck up idk how that's not a lift kit

A leveling kit for an axle with leafs is similar to yours. It's a leaf pack you put under the leafs to lower the axle still maintaining the stock suspension and steering components except for longer shocks. While a leveling kit "lifts" the front it's not like a lift kit with replacement suspension parts.
And i think the 05s are a coil spacer type deal. Yours is just a spacer on top of the strut right?

levels for IFS truck are a spacer and somtimes a bigger block. the block in the back just lifts the truck off the axle and gives you more suspension travel but the front, you're making the strut assembly bigger which is lifting the suspension and giving you more ground clearnace in the front, which i think is one of the main points of a suspension lift is gaining more clearance, which a body lift won't neccasarily do.

a lift doesn't give you ground clearance... It allows you to place bigger tires to give you ground clearance.

Yes and no, ground clearance comes mainly from tires. I don't know much about the suspension on your truck. And since the leveling kit doesn't lower your crossmember you're gaining that. But you still only have the clearance from your tire to the lowest point of your suspension. I'm not sure how your a arms are effected by the leveling kit but I'm assuming the bottom of your tire is the same distance from your lower a arm before an after the kit, but then you can throw the larger tires on there to gain that ground clearance. Which you can achieve with a bl.

Same with a 4 inch suspension lift on a solid axle, you can clear 37s but you'll get the same clearance you'd get with a body lift and 37s. You just get more flex out of an aftermarket leaf kit than a stock leaf kit. There's more you can do with coils on a solid axle than leafs.
