Just curious to see what everyone is getting for gas mileage on here? My truck has the 4.6L v8 and is pretty much stock. no muffler, K&N filter, bad manifold leak, and 265's and im getting about 12-13 mpg driving less than 35 miles per day. what are some good and inexpensive ways to increase MPG's? I do drive my truck nicely when im just driving to work and such but when im rolling with my buds i drive it like a truck.
My 2wd 97 with the 4.6 seeing 16-18 city, 20+ highway. Its lowered with a slightly smaller tire then stock. has 90k on the original drive train. K&N CAI, and straight piped. The 4x4 97, also has the 4.6 with 285/70-17's.. i say 8-10 city. And 14-16 highway. This ones got 162k on the original drive train.
I would say be damned happy with that. I am getting 11-12 with 35's, K&N FIPK intake, custom exhuast, head work and custom 93 octane tune.
You can read through this thread to get an idea http://www.fordfullsize.com/forum/f69/fuel-mileage-126/
i was thinking we already had a thread, but i average around 13.4 outta my '96 5.0 and thats driving about 60% highway and 40% city, but my city driving is at 45 mph lol
Try fixing the problems with it. My 4.6 with 217k miles is getting around 16 city and close to 20 on highway. I have fans, k&n drop in filter and gutted cats.
5.4l dual exhaust, gotts mod and 33mt's with edge evo programmer i get 14 in town and 17-18 highway driving with a 4wd.
my old 4.6 was about 12 in winter, mixed hwy/city and 13-14 in summer. Right now my 5.4 is about 13-14 winter mixed hwy/city
13 in the city. it doesn't see the highway anymore. Gotts mod, Gryphon tune for 87 performance, and 35's... If I regear I probably see a little bit better numbers.
Does the gotts mod really help that much? i tried it one time but i didnt have a good connector to hold the PVC to the airbox. where can i find a better connector?
