Well i feel like my cats might be clogged up.
So does any one have any idea the correct steps to doin this? We done it on my teachers toyota.. And we jus unbolted the read two and busted the stuff outa them then busted the ones that were left on there we busted them out on the truck. And on the two back o2 sensors we were informed by the electrician teacher to put a hose clamp over the rear two sensors so that theyd supposedly read different from the front ones where i wouldnt throw any codes. Then bolted everything back up with em cleaned out.

Would the process on my truck be close to the same as what we did on his truck? And does anyone know if anyone know if the hose clamp thing would actually work?

    Thanks in advance guys!

First what year is your truck?
Second what makes you think your cats are clogged?

if you gut them your truck will not pass emissions tests. I suggest getting rid of all stockers and get high flow cats. You can do a test to see if they are clogged..take the front o2 sensor out and do a pressure test then take the rear o2 sensor out and check the pressure there.

generally the main symptoms of clogged cats is bogging down and loss of power..not rough idle.

That rough idle could be a number of things. Have you ever cleaned the MAF sensor? Have ya cleaned the throttle body? Not to mention on the 4.2 it could be a bad wire or plug. I went through the same thing and it took 2 sets of wires before I got my skip and bad idle cured. I even replaced the plugs both times as well.

What plugs are you running by the way?

We dont have emissions test here in florida. And no ive never cleaned the MAF or the throttle body. And it shouldnt be the plug or wires they all were replaced within the last few months. Im thinking bad coil or bad o2 sensor. Ill figure all this out on my own next week. Hopefully.

But ether way i still kinda wanna gut my cats fer louder exhaust and pick up a few more hp at the same time..

So back to my main question would all that that we done on my teachers toyota work basicly the same on my truck or have yall ever heard if the hose clamp thing? Main thing is i dont want it to throw codes or run like shat afterwards.
