i own a 2001 f150 5.4 auto (4X4) i was in 4x4 last night due to snow i was driving the truck felt kinda sluggish and didn't want to move looked down and my Overdrive light was flashing at me well i pulled over put it in park started it back up and i couldn't even get the tires to spin in two wheel drive it just made wired noises and got up to 1500 rpms and shut off it doesn't work in two or fourwheel doesn't work in drive or 2 or 1 it just goes up to 1500 rpms and dies reverse works for maybe 5 feet and then it dies. I cleaned my mass air flow it ran like a champ before this my check engine is on BUT i cant get the truck to move so i cant find out what the code is for. any ideas on what it is?? tonight i would like to get the code out of it its not a heat problem because it sad all night and at start up this morning it did the same thing
When the O/D light flashes, thats the transmission throwing a code. You need to get it towed or trailered to a shop so they can diagnose it. you might be lucky and only have lost overdrive, or you might need a new transmission...
