I wonder what his secret to keeping the tranny alive that long was. ^x3 on the escorts. I had a 95 lx and miss it.... 30mpg all day long and a blast to drive.
im curious as to how he pulls off the 10w40w....i remember readin a post on that once before but never heard of many people trying it....
Well he said he used valvoline tranny fluid. All is use is valvoline period. Ya, there is no need to change your engine oil every 3,000 miles. The only reason your oil turns black is because of carbon. That is the only thing that GM and Toyota have over Ford. The oil life monitoring system, where it counts engine revolutions and considers driving habits, and engine temperature. Some people don't have to change their oil but every 5 to 6500 miles cause of their driving habits. I am a very firm believer of a very good oil filter and quality oil though.
x2 and you can also put a new filter on in between oil changes to keep your existing oil clean.........
Ya. Motorcraft, Mopar, K&N are the better filters. STP is pretty good, shocking I know. Anything is better than FRAM. It filters but is the plastics they use to construct are highly not recommended to be in combustion engines. I cant even count how many fram's I have seen imploded on themselves. It seems everytime Wal-Mart gets their hand's on a company they destroy it.
"I use 10W-40 motor oil and change it every 10,000 to 20,000 miles. The longest I’ve went between oil changes is 55,000 miles. It uses a quart of oil or more every tank of gas. I wait for the oil to turn black before changing it. Lucas Oil seems to slow the burning down." I have to agree with the Lucas products stopping the oil consumption.....it worked well for me in the past.....
