So yesterday while my wife was drivin the jetta the cel came on and started blinking. I test drove it today and the cel was on constant. I ran the codes came out as cyl 3 misfire. Luckily ive had two f150 5.4s so I automatically know what to do. Plugs and coils!! Luckily I have the 24v vr6 vs the 12v and I have the single coil packs per plug instead of the one big coil. So I did the plugs (since I was planning to do them in the next month or so) and I changed out coil pack on cyl 3. Cel didnt go away, I cleared it, drove it and it still shook, and the cel came back on. Scan came back with a random misfire... im thinking "great" So I fiddled with the plugs on top of the coils and scanned it again, came back as cyl 1 misfire. SOOOO I hop in the truck and go get another one. Car runs fine... for now ba ha. out 160 bucks for parts after only having it for a little over a week. I know yall love changing the plugs on your trucks, ive done it on an f150 twice. So I drawed yall a picture of how "hard" the spark plugs were to get to. This is not my engine bay, just a google pic, I threw in the arrows for yall. :Jester:, took 20 mins to change the plugs and about 30 seconds to swap a coil.
yep my escort is the same, they are all right on top, heck even the small block in the truck isn't all that hard
It was a breeze, Im glad it was only 160 bucks, but we just did the title transfer and paid the sales tax on it on wed, (325 bucks), I just had 500 bucks worth of dental work done, shat adds up ha ha. I was hoping to go at least a month before having to spend money on it.
Its givin me Ideas... ha ha, I reckon I might paint the valve cover whenever I do the gasket. That brushed aluminum is awesome though. They have a lot of interior parts too. On mine all the rubberized coating is peeling off the plastic. I think im going to pull some interior pieces and peel all the coating off and just leave it gloss black. Id like to get all that but its like $600 for the whole set. It came in the anniversary version of the gli, mines just a regular gli.
nice and easy lol thats how my girlfriends previous car was. it was a saturn vue, plugs and coils were right there in front. easy job.
